i found myself wanting to paint a lot of different ideas - primarily to get them out of my sketchbook and onto some kind of canvas. i quickly realized that canvasses take up a lot of space, plus i really just wanted to figure out how i would paint this idea or that thing. i found some artists using squares of primed canvas roll and realized that using these smaller canvas scraps would fit my creative process. most of these are baseline ideas for larger paintings that will certainly be on canvas.
drawdowns are used by paint and ink manufacturers test opacity. they exist in various forms and can be seen on tubes of paint. for me, i love the stark contrast between machined black and white lines and amorphous blobs of color.
